Anmerkungen

This release has an innovative 8-page, 3-fold die-cut heavy card sleeve. Opened out, it forms a 'T' shape. This shape is printed black & white on inside and full-color on reverse.

When the lower page is folded up (to contain the liner) the sleeve then takes the form of a 6-page triptych - with the die-cut tab & slot linking together at the center. When locked 'closed' the liner/vinyl can still be inserted via the top opening.

The back cover has a blurred shot of Stacia dancing on-stage, with text that encapsulates the essence of the work:
"Technicians of Space Ship Earth
This is Your Captain Speaking
Your Captain is Dead"

"Printed and made by the E. J. Day Group, London and Bedford".

[The inside spread photos include members of The Pink Fairies].

The package also contains an A4, 24-page 'Log Book', packed with the minutiae of the band's 'flight' through space & time. This 'Log' is printed black on white 'newspaper-quality' paper.

Produced at Olympic Studios, Barnes. Track B2 first recorded at Air Studios.

(Note: There are probably many issues of this which have lost the log book, or original UA imprinted liner)

Album

The packaging no doubt helped, complete with a multiple fold out sleeve, plus an excellent booklet entitled The Hawkwind log. Songs in album Hawkwind - In Search Of Space 1971. In Search of Space is the second studio album from Hawkwind, released in 1971. Bass player John A Harrison left just after recording the first album, replaced by Thomas Crimble who in turn was replaced by Dave Anderson from Amon Düül II for this album, and who in turn would be gone before its release. In search of space was the album which set Hawkwind on the road to mass appeal. I still like the debut a bit more though. Electronics player Dik Mik Davies had also temporarily left so the band's live sound engineer Del Dettmar was pulled in as a replacement, whilst Huw Lloyd. Hawkwind - You Shouldn't Do That. Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей. The album opens with the mind-numbing galactic haze of You Shouldn't Do That, a spooky little 15-minute excursion that warps, throbs, and swirls with Dik Mik's audio generator and the steady drum pace of Terry Ollis. In Search of Space strengthened Hawkwind's science fiction-type brand of progressive rock, gaining bass player Dave Anderson and galactic poet extraordinaire Rob Calvert, while losing John Harrison at the same time.
