So Soon - Mel Tillis. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Mel Tillis, who earned a place in the Country Music Hall of Fame and a National Medal of Arts as a singer and writer of enduring songs like Ruby, Dont Take Your Love to Town, and who was equally known for the stutter he employed to humorous and self-deprecating effect onstage, died on Sunday in Ocala, Fla. He even went so far as to make the nickname Stutterin Boy, conferred upon him by the singer Webb Pierce, the title of his autobiography written with Walter Wager and published in 1984, and to have it painted on the side of his tour bus. He named his personal airplane Stutter One and referred to his female backup singers as the Stutterettes. Webb Pierce Story. Your Rating. Overview . Mel Tillis was a guy who had it all: He could write, he could sing and he could entertain an audience, said Grand Ole Opry announcer and WSM DJ Eddie Stubbs. Theres a big difference between a concert and a show. Pierce found success with several other Tillis-penned songs, including Holiday for Love, Honky Tonk Song, Tupelo County Jail, I Aint Never and No Love Have I. During the 1960s, Tillis became one of Nashville's go-to writers. Mel Tillis spent a lifetime giving us joy and laughter and music, which is why his death brings such sadness, said Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum CEO Kyle Young in a statement. Frequent Tillis collaborator Webb Pierce originally recorded Honey Open That Door in 1974, but it was ultimately traditional revivalist Ricky Skaggs that claimed it as an enduring hit. Released in 1984 from the album Dont Cheat in Our Hometown, it became Skaggs seventh Number One during his unstoppable early Eighties run. Tillis and Webb Pierce co-wrote I Aint Never and each performer enjoyed a major country hit with the indignant tune more than a decade apart. Pierces version came first, in 1959, a rockabilly-tinged shuffle with Nashville polish that made it all the way to Number Two and enjoyed some crossover success on the pop charts. Webb Pierce I Overlooked An Orchid. Webb covers Carl Smith from the Where'd Ya Stay Last Night album. Recorded October 28 1966 Bradley's Barn, Bender's Ferry Road, Mount Juliet, TN Producer. Webb Pierce MISS YOU. Kinda fun throwaway album cut from the Merry Go Round World Album. It's a shame that true Honky Tonk like Webb's best early 60's stuff was so OUT in the earl.
