  • I have matrix V 2086 A3-B1, vinyl itself is in mint condition but unfortunately there is writing on the sleeve. It has 11 tracks plus printed tracks on rear of sleeve. I think it's this one but can anyone confirm, I'm new to all this vinyl stuff. thankshttps://www.discogs.com/Sex-Pistols-Never-Mind-The-Bollocks-Heres-The-Sex-Pistols/release/2558425

  • I have matrix V 2086 A5-B5 in excellent ++ condition ( both sleeve and LP). It has 11 tracks plus printed tracks on rear of sleeve. Can anyone advise as to what variant this could be. Thanks in advance

  • I think the 1000 copies only is most unlikely. I lived in the sticks in Worcestershire UK a the time, and knew 3 people who bought the 11 track LP when it came out. Don't think they even came with the Submission single, although I do remember one of those kicking around.

  • How is variation 6 above different from A1/B1 .... or are the dashes relevant?

  • I have 2 copies of the 11 track blank back outer cover with Matrix numbers A2 / B1. The first 3 tracks are, Holidays,Liar,No Feelings. Can anyone tell me if they are of the first 1000 pressings??

  • Mine is the 12 track lp with the labels and sleeve for the 11 track??

  • First UK pressing, approximately 1000 copies..... and 1542 Discogs members have it. What are the odds?

  • I can't believe that there are only 1000 copies of the 11 track lp! If there are six different pairs of matrix number configurations of A/B with 1/3 (see above) then pressing plants of the time would not have done such a short run on each pressing for what was a hugely anticipated album. That would mean less than 200 for each pressing!? Really! Hardly worth prepping the machine for.

  • This album is amazingly overhyped, listen to some Dead Boys instead. Their first record "Young Loud and Snotty" came out just a couple weeks before this hunk of junk. Sid was a junkie that had no clue what he was doing, and only appears for a few seconds on one song on this record.

  • Nevermind the Bollocks is the Rapper’s Delight of punk albums.

  • Sid's not on the record and for the most part neither is Steve Jones. Most of the guitar work is Chris Spedding. Whatever you think of the music contained this LP was a cultural landmark [even if the Vibrators 'Pure Mania' was the first UK import pressed in the US]. And in my opinion "Young, Loud and Snotty" was/is just as terrible a bunch of noise as this is.

  • Stiv Bators was the real deal, as John Lydon was. Stiv= Born in the midwest. Did the NYC thing very well. Never liked the original release of rhe debut, preferred the Bomp! mix.Lydon= Reacted to the politics of the time. Born a punk. Both records are irreplaceable in my collection.

  • Unfortunately the Dead boys influenced less people & had less impact than this band & this album. Call it overhyped or crap if you will, but never forget it's impact.

  • Anyone able to help me track down my version of this.V2086Green and red labelsMatrix V-2086.A-9 Tone and V-2086.B7, both etched12 tracks, no misspellings or misattribution of writers.Back cover as should be with small Sex Pistols credit middle bottom (black type in yellow on pink)thx.

  • Hey! I have the same version and just found it :) https://www.discogs.com/Sex-Pistols-Never-Mind-The-Bollocks-Heres-The-Sex-Pistols/release/2565110

  • I have a V2086 A2/B3 version. I bought it in the late 80s off a chap who said he'd originally bought it in France. It had the single sided Submission single with it but I've no idea if it originally came with this or the chap acquired it later (seems like chrisbrown is asking the same question). Like PunkCollector said the best info about all of this can be found at http://www.philjens.plus.com/pistols/pistols/nmtb_worldwide_index.htm. I emailed the guy (Phil) there about mine and his simple answer was "Seems like combinations were endless!" So unless anyone here is more knowledgeable I'm sticking by his info. 1000 made but more than a 1000 owned??? I've taken images of mine and I know it's genuine - the question is where does it fit into the story. I'd suggest other folk take photos too - let's see matrix, covers, labels.

  • Dear Discogs readers. It is important to note that this information page is being updated with false information. I've attempted to make it accurate but a certain user is insistent on adding matrix that are incorrect. I think its fairly obvious since approximately 1000 were made and more then 1000 are owned. Unless every record survived and is in the hands of Discogs members which we all know is impossible then this information page is diluted with false claims. Please buy and collect wisely and don't be fooled by this page as it can be edited by any member trying to sell an album. The best info caneeded be found at http://www.philjens.plus.com/pistols/pistols/pistols_nmtb.htm.I have attempted to add this link but it keeps being removed by Animatedbat. I'm not sure why he is afraid of free information and would rather deprive Discog members of this info. Please collect wisely. Have a great day.

  • I have 11 song out of order press with 11 songs listed on back. A3/B2 runout. Anyone know where this fits in the scheme?

  • I don't have all those goodies. I don't think it's Spot's version. Thanks!

  • Thanks for your reply. Mine doesn't have poster/7"/sticker, but that doesn't mean it didn't have it sometime before. According to the list above, i don't think it's a SPOT issue. I guess it's just another very early press, most likely right after the first 1000.

  • That appears to be a SPOTS version. Have you got the poster, the sticker from the shrink-wrapping and the bonus one-sided single of "Submission"?However, reading the comments from PunkCollector suggests to me that it's not a SPOTS version. Why is this release so difficult to make sense of?

  • For any Discog reader. It is extremely unfortunate that Discogs has allowed the A1/B2 version to be added to the information page. It was even stated by previous poster that there is no hard proof of this. By hard proof, it is meant no proof. The fact that someone owns this copy does not mean it's 1st 1000. This information page is now tainted and should not be considered as factual. Johnny_ Rotten made the case 4 years ago that only A1/A1, A2/B2, and A3/B3 that these were only the 1st 1000. http://www.philjens.plus.com/pistols/pistols/pistols_nmtb.htmAlso states this. Please be aware of sellers claiming anything else as legit. Animatedbat should not have revised this again as a legit matrix still with no proof. Buyers beware of this!

  • PunkCollector, It's only "unfortunate" for you. Not Johnny_Rotten, nor any other collector, has been able to examine EVERY SINGLE copy of the first 1K pressings, but you're taking their statements as fact. A lack of "proof" doesn't make anyone correct, but available facts can be used to make safe assertions, that's what you're basing your confidence on. Here's another safe assertion: the V2086 A1 matrix doesn't appear to exist on any other pressing of this record, except for the first 1K. Truly, I hope an absolute expert on the subject speaks up, even if it's not in my favor, so that this can be done.

  • V2086 A1 B2.....11 track version, blank back version, anyone seen it? I own.

  • I own original Virgin V 2086 A1/B2 plain pink back cover.

  • I bought a A7/B7 issue on Virgin with V2086 cat number, is this older and who as heard of this matrix?

  • Mine is A5 B7 with the blue label and 11 tracks on the sleeve and center label but 12 track lp????? Wtf

  • There's a sticker inside my sleeve, paper like toilet paper, with the tex "Never Mind the Bollocks it's the Sex Pistols" anyone else?

  • I own an A5/B7 copy with 12 tracks on record, 11 on yellow rear sleeve and Vicious miscredited on "EMI". There are so many variations, it's a nightmare identifying which one. I have had violations twice but no indication of what was wrong but have now settled on the release that has the text: "Third UK printing variant of the 12 track original UK sequence master including "Submission" as B3." but it is difficult to identify. With regard to the single-sided single "Submission" single which I think I purchased separately. How can I sell the one-sided single on Discogs??? I am sure people would be interested in purchasing it.

  • I have the original plain pink rear sleeve, 11 track version, and a copy of the single sided Submission. Were the two issued together? The description on Discogs seems to say the pink version didn't come with the free single.Any thoughts?

  • Yes, my copy of the 11 track version came with the single-sided Submission. UK import to the USA A1/B1 on the runouts.

  • I have a version on vinyl, Virgin, V2086 A7/B7. But I don't have a cover for it - is there any resource online to buy original sleeves/covers only?

  • where is A&M AMS 7284 - some say that one costs around a 1000 pounds? Does it exist?

  • Try here: https://www.discogs.com/Sex-Pistols-God-Save-The-Queen/release/384928As for 1000 pounds.... you wish! More like 8000 - 10,000 pounds for a legit copy. Some say there are only about 100 copies floating around, maybe less... who knows.

  • Having trouble finding my variant - It is BSK-3147 w/ blue and white sleeve. It has a WB logo instead of the Sex Pistols logo. The etching on side one is BSK-3147, LW2 and then there is a hand etched "#64" On Side 2 it looks hand etched "#64 BSK-2-3147 - LW3" I found a few similar, but those have the "Sex Pistols" label and no mention of a hand etched number. If anyone can help, much thanks!

  • My copy, which I bought in Bordeaux when the LP was realeased, is "V2086 A3/B2".

  • mines the A5 B8 IN standard cover not pink with track list of 11 on the back and 12 on the virgin labeld record produced by " " or "" v2086 . value its nm vg+ ? 2 minor hair lines if that .

  • Recently came across a copy of NMTB. Plain pink back cover.V2086 and has matrix A5/B8. Also has A side and B side writing Producers Chris Thomas OR Bill Price. Still has the original Virgin Records price tag of £2.79 on what must be the original cellophane wrapping. Please can someone enlighten me as to the value. Thanks !

  • It's just a standard early release of the 12 tracks album nothing too special, but worth keeping.

  • Fantastic Audio quality proving that the first 1,000 sound better than all other pressing. Loud and clear, some of the layers of guitar come out and you can hear the genius that Chris Thomas is. The drums are dynamic and the vocals sound perfect in relation to the rest of the instruments. A very interesting listen to having completely different track listing and no submission. A must for a Pistols collector - I'd rather have this over my mint Canadian copy any day, not sure how the standard early UK copy would fare. EMI has so much weight to it, so so loud and in your face, infact the whole B side sounds much better with the dead wax being much larger - and without the longest track 'submission' from the later releases.

  • Bought my copy on release date at Virgin Mega store Oxford st london, 11 track, plain back cover & a copy of the one-sided Submission but no poster.... I have no idea looking through the different versions of 'first pressings' what my copy is really worth..

  • my new copyhttp://recordstoreday.co.uk/exclusive-products/rsd-2015/sex-pistols-1.aspx

  • Do you have buyers remorse? do you feel cheated? lol

  • Mine has Matrix:A5/B5.Labels V2086-A/V2086-BCan anyone help identify it?

  • Likely a 3rd pressing like this version - http://www.discogs.com/Sex-Pistols-Never-Mind-The-Bollocks-Heres-The-Sex-Pistols/release/429208

  • Hi all, hoping someone more knowledgeable on the Pistols can help me out with some info. Picked up a wonderful collection of early Pistols stuff and amongst the collection is a mint copy of Bollocks. It's still in shrink but opened. Stocker on front reads "UK pressing includes one-sided single and Pistols poster". The 45 Submission single is present but the poster is missing. The lp centre labels read V2086 V2086 A and V2086 V2086 B. Run outs are V2086 A3 (on the A side) and V2086 B1 (on the B side). The rear of the jacket lists 11 songs (IE: is not blank).Has anyone come across this? Is it a rare release? Any help appreciated :)

  • Hiif you have a V2086 A3 / B1 it looks like you have a SPOT001 copy.Question for you please. is your freebie 45 submission single a flexi disc or hard vinyl? My copy is hard vinyl with matrix of VDJ24 A1 with grooved blank B side with no matrix. My NMTB copy matrix is V2086 A1 / B1 one of the original first 1000 early copies.hope this helpsThanksPaul

  • A2/B1 variant on a Jems import, EMI is credited to Jones, Matlock, Cook, Rotten. Plain back cover, credits Price & Thomas. A3/B1, 11 track album with titles on back, credits Price & Thomas and 7" Submission single. My question is did the A2/B1 release before the A3/B1 version?

  • I have a copy of this which is a U.S.A import featuring the Jem import sticker on the front cover with the matrix A2/B1, blank pink rear cover, 11 tracks. EMI credits to Jones Matlock Cook Rotten.I have also got 2 (SPOTS) copies of the A3/B1 matrix press with 11 track listings on the back, no poster but have the single sided Submission single. Did the A2/B1 press before the A3/B1?

  • I have the A1/B3 variant but EMI is credited to Jones, Matlock, Cook, Rotten.

  • I've bought this album with matrix: A1/B1 but it has 12 tracks on the back of sleeve, 6 tracks on Side A. 5 tracks with numbers on side B and E.M.I has no number in front of it. It has sky blue labels, can anyone help me out with this problem?

  • Another 5 legged dog...Matrixes match first 1000 but the label differences are odd... even after all these years there are still variations of this release only now coming to light.

  • it's very strange, the matrix on one side is A2 and on the other is B3.Could you explain that

  • I have 11 song out of order press with 11 songs listed on back. A3/B2 runout. Anyone know where this fits in the scheme?

  • thanks a lot for your helpG

  • kirktheyetiit's very strange, the matrix on one side is A2 and on the other is B3.Could you explain that It's not strange at all. It's just another variation on the Master plates used to press the records. Just like A1/B3 that is already listed among others. How these combinations came about I don't know. There may have been more than one machine pressing the records or that's how the plates were mounted . Who knows? nmycon... sounds like you've got yourself a bargain!! A3/B3 is one of the 1000 and what you describe fits too. :-)

  • I just picked up a UK copy from a record show for $15. My matrixes are V-2086-A-3 and V-2086-B-3.Plain pink rear cover, plain white inner sleeve with "Patent Pending UK etc."Going by what I've found on Discogs, this should be one of the first 1000, but I just want to double check that there's nothing else I should be looking for, as it just seems a bit too good to be true for a $15 record.

  • That's the funny thing about the first 1000-copy: Most sellers don't know it as it is not that easy to identify. On the other hand the SPOTS-issue (10.000 up to 50.000) is sold for EUR/GBP 200 and up. The single and the poster is the difference...

  • Most definitely 1 of 1000. The prices vary wildly. Good pick up.

  • Well i'm glad that has been cleared up. Thanks to whoever updated the release details. I scored a A2/A2 Jem stickered, import copy (mine on front of cover) for about $11.00 AUD a few months ago and felt quite certain it was part of the first batch. This backs up the theory I guess. I purchased this from a guy in the US who said he couldn't wait for Warner Bros to release the US version.

  • Indispensable.

  • If I have a 77' UK copy of this with the A1/B1 matrixes but it comes in the 11 track back sleeve version of the cover does this still make it one of the 1st 1000?...Also, I have another 77' UK copy with A8/B8 matrixes which leads me to beleive it's part of the 3rd main press but it came in a blank pink back sleeve... Hmmmm..Are these both instances where the records have been put into different sleeves they were released with sometime after they were purchased? or is there something I am missing here? Any help on these questions would be greatly appreciated.

  • There were two first pressing matrixes, A1/B1, and A3/B3:The best way to know if you have got one of the rare real first 1000 copies is the matrix number: V2086 A1/B1 or V2086 A3/B3. Why use 2 different matrix numbers for the same pressing? Because the manufacturer used several pressing machines at the same time. It was also a good way to test all the different sets of plates. A third plates set V2086 A2/B2 was also manufactured but it seems it wasn't used for the first 1000 NMTB. As we couldn't find any copy with this matrix number we can't say for sure it really exists so check your copies!! http://www.philjens.plus.com/pistols/pistols/pistols_nmtb.htm

  • Thanks for all the info; I also have an A2/B2 version. Mine seems to watch everything else from the first 1000 - no song listings on sleeve, no "Submission"; label has song tmings. Inner sleve has same patent as image here. It is a JEM import that I purchased in Detroit, MII prior to the USA release.

  • I have a A2/B2 stamped copy, timing on labels, no submission etc in a plain pink back cover with a Jem imports sticker on the front of the cover as it was imported in 77' from the UK to USA before the US version was released.. Now i'm not sure if it is one of the first 1000 but it must have been early press thats for sure.

  • I have A2/B1

  • Thanks for this info - most useful. Could you please confirm if it is common for these matrix numbers to be mixed up? My NMTB (an earlyish plain back sleeve) is 'V 2086 A5' & 'V-2086-B-8'.A good friend has the earlier 11 track version (11 tracks on back & submission single) with 'V-2086-A-3' & 'V 2086-B-1' that he picked up more recently. Not sure if this is an original or a copy! Any advice welcome! Cheers
