To celebrate the release of Getz's reunion album with Brazilian singerguitarist João Gilberto, 1976's The Best of Two Worlds, the saxophonist booked a week of shows at the Keystone backed by his quartet and featuring Gilberto. Whereas GetzGilberto '76 showcases the Gilberto performances, Moments in Time finds Getz appearing alone with his band, featuring pianist Joanne Brackeen, drummer Billy Hart, and bassist Clint Houston. Listen free to Stan Getz Moments In Time Summer Night, O Grande Amor and more. 8 tracks 53:00. Stan Getz Stanley Gayetzky, February 2, 1927 Philadelphia June 6, 1991 Malibu, California was an American jazz tenor saxophone player. Known as The Sound because of his warm, lyrical tone, Getz's prime influence was the wispy, mellow tone of his idol, Lester Young. His parents were Ukrainian Jews who immigrated from Kyiv city, Ukraine in 1903. The family later moved to New York City for better jobs. Moments In Time, 2016. Stan Getz. Summer Night, 09:18. Looking back Getzs career, he has a good eye to pick up a young talented pianist, such as Steve Kuhn, Chick Corea, Stanley Cowell and Richie Beirach. Joanne Brackeen takes a chair before Andy LaVerne. Live at Montmartre also released as Stan's Party is a live album by saxophonist Stan Getz which was recorded at the Jazzhus Montmartre in 1977 and released on the SteepleChase label.
