Anmerkungen

"Head-phone Music For Three Dimensions"

This album was recorded using logic audio. The output from this was then spatialized using Animix 3D visualisation software and the Lake Huron 3D audio processor. Animix was specifically written to help create pieces of music to be played in the soundscapes 3D auditorium area of the National Center for Popular Music in Sheffield. The techniques and technology used in creating this album have never been used before.

Important - This album has been recorded in binaural format. The listener should wear headphones to hear the unique threedimensional surround sound spatiality of the mixes. Some (albeit reduced) effects will be heard if speakers only are used.
Track one, "Music for Multiple Dimensions", was the first piece of music commisioned by and composed for the National Center for Popular Music. It is performed several times daily in the soundscapes auditorium.

Pre-mixed at the Institute of Sonology, Primrose Hill, London
Spatialized at Sonic Imaging, Brixton, London
Engineered at Sonic Imaging, Brixton, London (by Andy Houston) for Gerry Brown Management

Martyn Ware's home both Clarke and Ware preferring to work from their own well-appointed studios, the immediate task was to find a way of working which allowed flexibility during the writing and recording stages of Pretentious. It was here that Ware produced all of his 3D surround mixes for Pretentious, using a custom system comprising a Lake Huron DSP processor made by Australian DSP and psychoacoustic wizards Lake Technology and a 3D graphical user interface, Animix, supplied by an Irish R&D and design company, Cuan. So is this indeed a pretentious release Since it's not made out to be more then what it is, I would say this is hardly pretentious. I'm sure readers with a keener eye for semantics will be poking fun of me come the morning after the review is posted. Oh The CD It sounds exactly like you'd expect. It's cheery, happy, soaked in electronics and samples with not a whole lot of thought put into new or exciting directions in melodies. The CD represents a collection of electronic pieces commissioned for an exhibit at the National Center for Popular Music in Sheffield, UK, desig
